Flickr: Can it be a teaching resource?

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 1:44 am and

Can Flickr be a useful resource for educators? The simple answer is yes.

Many students are visual learners and therefore should learn the required information in such a manor. Flickr is an excellent tool that stores a multitude of  pictures which can then be used during or prior to a class to enhance the lesson. For example, if a high school biology class is doing a dissection of a fetal pig, the teacher may ask the students to look at a group of photos on flickr the night before. These pictures could be a step by step process of the dissection completed and uploaded by the teacher, helping to prepare the students with what the experiment entails.

Will I be using Flickr during my teaching career? The simple answer is yes!
